The 5 Betting Favourites For The Premier League

EPL Club Debts

It’s that time of year again!

The Premier League will be kicking off soon, and that means it’s time for the speculation and predictions to begin. Additionally, it’s about time for those who like to bet on matches to start getting a handle on this year’s favourites. So before you start getting carried away with your bets, here’s a look at the 5 teams with the best odds on winning the League, as listed at Betfair.
1. Manchester City
Coming in with 12/5 odds, Man City is the slight favourite to take the Premier League title, and it’s no wonder when you look at just how well-rounded this squad looks to be. 25-year old striker Sergio Aguero is one of a handful of players in expected to compete for the Golden Boot, but is by no means Man City’s only threat. This club looks as poised as any to take the league outright.

2. Chelsea
Chelsea’s odds of winning the Premier League are listed as between 12/5 and 5/2 (a 3.45 ratio, as compared to Man City’s 3.40), which puts them just inches behind Man City in betting predictions. In fact, depending on which betting service you use, you may find Chelsea listed as the outright favourite. After a disappointing result in the Champions League (missing out on 2nd in their group via tiebreak), Chelsea should be motivated to perform.

3. Manchester United
Man U have 11/4 (3.7) odds to win the Premier League, putting them right in the thick of betting favourites. Coming off a 13th Premier League title in 2012-2013, and with essentially the same squad being put forth, Man U should certainly be in strong position to compete for the title.

4. Arsenal
Arsenal’s odds are listed at between 9/1 and 10/1, or a 10.5 ratio. This puts them at #4 in betting favourites, but also clearly puts them on a second tier beneath Man City, Chelsea and Man U. Theo Walcott could be poised for a Premier League breakout, and mainstays like Tomas Rosicky and Lukas Podolski remain dangerous, giving this club a veteran presence that is highly valued.

5. Liverpool
With 33/1 odds, Liverpool are another clear step back in the betting favourites, but should certainly not be counted out. Luis Suarez figures to be one of the most dangerous goal scorers in the league, and Liverpool will play its first 6 games against 5 teams all projected to finish outside the top 7, with the exception being a home match against Manchester United on August 31. This should make for a strong start that could propel Liverpool forward in the competition.
