Nasri beats Malouda and Lloris to French Player of the year award

Samir Nasri, much to the surprise of French football fans, was voted as the best French player by the jury of voters for the esteemed France Football magazine.

Nasri beat Chelsea playmaker Florent Malouda who had a great season with Chelsea last season. The only drawback was that he was the part of the shamed France team that travelled to South Africa in what was France’s worst World Cup performance.

Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris came third for his amazing performances for his club in the Champions League especially.

What worked for Nasri was that he was not included in France’s bizarre World Cup campaign. The Arsenal midfielder was left out of the squad by then coach Raymond Domenech which proved to be a poor decision for France.

Nasri is a part of the French national team now under new coach Laurent Blanc and has started the season brightly for Arsenal scoring 12 goals in 21 appearances .

Didier Deschamps was named the coach of the year after leading Marseille to the league title. Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila attained the young player award. Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian winger Nene was named the best foreign player in France.
