Wilshere – I deserved to be sent off

Arsenal rising star Jack Wilshere admits that he has learnt a lot for the red card he was shown against Birmingham. The 19 year old was sent off after he mistimed his tackle on Birmingham City’s striker Nikola Zigic. Wilshere says that he should have watched the clock before making the unnecessary tackle on the striker which reactively cost him 3 games.

He stated:

“It was frustrating and boring. I look back and it was stupid. It was the last minute and it was a bad touch, I went into the challenge and that was it.

“Obviously I am going to learn from that. I was playing week in, week out, then I was stopped for three games.

He confessed that he wasn’t supposed to make that tackle especially when the game was almost finished. Though it was his decision to go into that tackle but he has realized that the red card shown to him has taught him a great lesson.

“I have no complaints about getting the red card and I will learn from this. I’m missing three matches now which I’m really disappointed about, but I just want to say that I deserved the red card.

It was a mis-timed challenge, I have learned from it and now I have to move on. I am only 18 and at this time in my career it is all about learning.

I have said it before, playing with people like Cesc and Samir you are going to learn off them.”
