Paul the Octopus replaced by his cousin Ollie

Paul the ‘psychic’ Octopus has died but his cousin Ollie has replaced him in order to continue the family tradition.

Paul, who predicted Germany’s scores in this year’s World Cup died last month.
His cousin Ollie, who is named after Blackpool manager Ian Holloway, will predict Blackpool’s scores for this season. Ollie, two, was born alongside Paul at the Sea Life Centre in Weymouth, Dorset, before Paul went to live in Germany. Now based at the Sea Life Centre in Blackpool, Ollie made a few predictions for this season before the league started:

CHELSEA will win the title;
WAYNE ROONEY of Man U will recover from his World Cup flop to be top scorer;
WOLVES will finish bottom, not bookies favourites’ Blackpool;
MAN CITY’S Roberto Mancini will be the first manager sacked.

Natalie Wyatt, the head of tourist organisation Visit Blackpool said : “It must be a family tradition. I knew Ollie had this ability because when we played Cardiff in the Championship play-off final at the end of last season, he predicted that we’d win.”

Ollie will be making predictions before every home match that Blackpool plays. In a trial run, he has predicted that Blackpool will beat Aston Villa and West Ham in their next two away games. Aston Villa host Blackpool tonight at Villa Park and it remains to be seen whether Ollie is good enough to emulate his (late) cousin Paul.
