Eto’o banned for head butting opponent

Inter striker Samuel Eto’o is banned for 3 matches for head butting Chievo Verona defender Bostjan Cesar at the weekend.

The referee did not sanction Eto’o during Sunday’s game but league officials used TV replays to decide the ban. Eto’o was also fined euro 30,000 for the act similar to Zidane’s clash with Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup Final.

The incident occured when Cesar threw a weak punch that hit Eto’o and the Cameroon international jogged away before turning around and head butting Cesar in the chest.

Eto’s absence will be a cause of concern for under fire Inter manager Rafael Benitez. Diego Milito has suffered with form and injuries while first team starters like Maicon, Samuel, Chivu, Motta and Coutinho are out injured as well.

Eto’o has carried the burden of scoring goals for Inter this season with 18 goals so far.
