Real Madrid and Barcelona have agreed to play the first El Clasico of the season on a Monday night. The ‘Big 2’ of Spain will face each other at the Nou Camp on November 29th.
The reason for changing the date is to avoid a clash with the Catalan elections which take place in Barcelona a day earlier. A statement on Real’s official website confirmed the news. It said:
“The football league has announced the matchday 13 clash between Barcelona and Real Madrid will be played on November 29 at 2100 local time.
“This is due to the 13th round coinciding with the elections for the parliament of Catalonia and the security problems that would create.”
Real Madrid will be hoping to take revenge after losing to their bitter rivals twice last season. And this is the match that more or less decides the Champions of Spain. Barca won 1-0 at Nou Camp by a goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic while Lio Messi and Pedro made sure that they do the double over Madrid at the Bernabeu. Real Madrid currently tops the La Liga table with just a 1 point lead over Barca.
