Jose Mourinho, on his biggest defeat of the career, said :
“It’s the worst defeat of my career. I’ve never lost by five goals to zero but it’s easy to digest because it was a defeat without chance of winning – so it’s not hard to accept. It is a result for one team that played well and punishment for one that played very poorly and we deserved to lose.
I don’t think you can say the result reflects the difference between the two teams and the championship isn’t over today and there is still a lot for us to play for in this league as we are only two points behind.
We have to show character. I spoke to the players in the dressing room and when you lose 5-0 like today you have to come back with desire to train hard and win matches again.I am sad of course because we lost and I expected much more as we had been playing well. However, the game is over now and there is nothing much we can do. We are still a work in progress.”

It was Guardiola’s fifth El Clasico win as a manager on which he said:
“We won the league with the 6-2 in Bernabeu but we are only in November now.Real are a strong rival and this will be a tough title fight until the end of the season.
To beat a team with the most league championships and Champions League titles gives us real satisfaction and we can be happy to stay loyal to our philosophies of attacking and dominating games with style. The difference between the two sides is not reflected by the result as it is just one game. Everything went well for us and these games don’t happen very often.
I am not going to say we are the best Barcelona team ever or that we are the best team in the world. I will let time pass and people can decide that on their own.”

David Villa scored two vital goals for his side last night. It was his first El Clasico which turned out to be a historic one for him. He said:
“It`s been a very important win. We looked for the victory and we got it. And the result and the manner in which we achieved it, you cannot ask for more.We are two points clear. We need to continue working hard. We are in November.
Just as before the game nothing was lost, now neither have we won anything. We have an advantage but we need to continue working.”

Xabi Alonso was quoted as saying in AS :
“We didn`t expect a game like this but there`s a lot of the season left and this isn`t over. They have made things a lot easier for themselves by scoring the first so early and then getting the second quickly. It`s been very difficult. We have to learn from the mistakes we`ve made.”

Puyol,on his confrontation with Ramos, which earned the Madrid right back a yellow card, said:
“These things happen in a game of football. I’ve gone to defend a team-mate of mine because it seemed a very tough tackle.
They are moments of high tension, but what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch. I have a very good relationship with Sergio Ramos and it’s already forgotten: I have more important things to think about.”
