Double blow for Arsenal

Arsenal centre-back Thomas Vermaelen has suffered a setback in his recovery from an Achilles tendon injury.

The Belgian was injured while playing for his country against Turkey in their Euro 2012 qualifier in Istanbul. “On the scan, his Achilles is clear,” Gunners boss Arsene Wenger said.
“But as soon as he stays out for a while, it tightens up and he has pain. We don’t know the source of his pain.”
He will return to see a specialist and no one can determine how long he will be out for.
Another Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny picked up a red card in Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League defeat by Newcastle. Arsenal decided to appeal against the red card but failed to win it and now the young Frenchman is out for two matches. This leaves Arsenal with Johan Djourou and Sebastien Squillaci as the only center backs for the difficult trip away to Wolves tomorrow.
