Build up to El Clasico

Barca face Real Madrid for the Clash of the titans in La Liga tonight. Will it be a happy 111th birthday for FC Barcelona, only time will tell. We build up to the Clasico which promises to be a great match.

156151_485599989024_542559024_5540045_7639741_n Barca coach Pep Guardiola expects a fantastic Clasico. He has no intentions of curbing his side’s attacking philosophy. He said :
"I hope it will be a fantastic game. It`s very difficult to avoid over-excitement with Madrid coming here. That`s normal. It`s going to be a beautiful game. We aren`t going to change anything, we will protect ourselves but we aren`t going to play deeper. I don`t want that and it will also send a message to the players that I`m scared. We are going to do the same as always. We will try to win and do it in the best way possible.Madrid seem strong to me. I`ve beaten Madrid four times, but I know that sooner or later I`m going to lose against them."

Former World Player of the year Cristiano Ronaldo has played down talk of El Clasico being a duel between him and Lio Messi. He said:
"It’s part of the news, of the press, to sell newspapers. It’s normal, but I don’t see the game as a duel between us. We are playing 11 against 11, we have to be concerned about everyone," the Portugal international said.
"Of course anyone who scores goals is dangerous, but we have to think about everyone."
Messi will be looking to overtake Ronaldo as La Liga’s top scorer. The Argentine ace is one goal behind Ronaldo with 13 goals in the race for Golden Boot.

According to Sergio Busquets, Real Madrid have become united under Jose Mourinho and are playing as a team.
"With Jose Mourinho, Real Madrid have become more of a team, but if we play our game then it will not be a problem for us.We have to press high and do the same when Iker Casillas puts the ball back into play. Also, possession, one-twos, that’s what we must do to beat them.”

Mourinho thinks El Clasico will not decide the La Liga champions. Although it has done so in the past few seasons.
"It`s an important game but not decisive. If we win, the following morning will be Tuesday, and if we lose, it will also be Tuesday."

Gerard Pique believes that the home advantage has made Barca the favourite for tonight’s Clasico.
"A ‘Clasico’ is so even that playing at home always makes the home side more of a favourite – and that’s us this time," he said at an event organised by Nike yesterday.
"Nobody can predict what will happen in these type of games," he added."But we are in good shape."
