While Manchester United might have blown all the realistic chances of signing Mesut Özil after signing Bebe; Real Madrid have stepped up the chase for the German international and may well be only hours away from securing his signature.
The Werder Bremen schemer expressed his desire to move to Real Madrid after his side’s 4-0 win over Ahlen in the DFB-Pokal and was reportedly disappointed upon hearing that Werder Bremen Director of Sports, Klaus Allofs, had rejected an initial offer of € 9 million without informing him.
Now Los Merengues, expressing the strength of their intent, have increased their initial offer by € 5 million and expect to close the signing between Monday and Tuesday i.e. within 48 hours. However, sources from the North-German club report that Werder are adamant that the German international is valued around € 20 million.
