Could Torres be the next Gerrard ?

Every rumour dries up after a certain period of time but one rumour that refuse to die is Torres’. Chelsea is in a much better condition than Liverpool. Chelsea is fighting for every trophy where as Liverpool are still looking to stabilize themselves from their horrible showing in the last season and will look to come back to their winning ways. Torres, who has shown his desire to win trophies will be looking to play for a more stable squad and that is Chelsea. But if he shows his loyalty to Liverpool fans and stays than he could soon be following the footsteps of Steven Gerrard.

Torres and Gerrard

We all remember the time when Gerrard was so close to become a Chelsea player. He rejected their bid and showed his loyalty to the KOP . But ever since that he hasn’t won a single trophy. Where as Chelsea have established themselves as one of Europe’s top sides and are fighting for every trophy. Gerrard is now one of those few greats who still haven’t won a single league title and i personally think that this misery will continue. What if he had joined Chelsea ? Things would have been a lot different for Chelsea,Gerrard and even England. If he had joined Chelsea than he would have won loads of trophies and it would have created a strong bond between two of the best midfielders the world has ever seen. The Lampard and Gerrard problem would also have been solved.

Steven Gerrard

If Torres follows Gerrard’s path than he could suffer the same fate. Liverpool are not in a position to challenge for the title and Torres is at his peak. Liverpool are always dependant on Torres’ goals and he always has to play to ensure Liverpool is winning, without him Liverpool’s record is very dismal. At Chelsea, he will play less and the whole team will not depend on him and pressure will be less. Drogba and Anelka will also share the burden. And Torres’ biggest dream of winning trophies at club level will also come true.

Drogba and Torres ( The deadly duo)

Torres’ has only won one trophy at club level and that was Spanish segunda title. He hasn’t won any trophy at club level. So this might be the right time for Torres to think of a change. If he comes to Chelsea, he will provide Chelsea what they are lacking i.e pace, creativity and style. And Chelsea will provide him trophies. So both will benefit from this move. Liverpool on the other hand desperately need money to lower their financial debt or they can also inject two or three new players from the money from Torres’ sale. £40 million pounds will be great for both sides. If Torres joins Chelsea than he could well be the next big thing in world football and if he stays in Liverpool than he could end up like Gerrard. Now the decision is Torres’ to make.
